A Series of Patriotic Film Festivals

To mark the 70 years of Indian Independence, Directorate of Film Festival organized a festival of patriotic films in New Delhi under the banner “70 Saal Azaadi, Yaad Karo Kurbani” as part of the Ministry of Defence programme related to Independence Day celebrations from August 12-18, 2016 at Siri Fort Auditorium Complex, New Delhi.

In continuation to this festival following festivals were organized :

Directorate of film Festivals organised a patriotic film festival under the banner 70 Saal Azadi -Yaad Karo Kurbani from March 20-22, 2017 in Banka, Bihar in collaboration with the district administration, Banka and Grameen Sneh Foundation. The festival also showcased 2 Mizo (Mizoram) films under the scheme “Ek Bharat Shresthh Bharat”. An initiative of Government of India to promote cultural exchange between the states, where in films from one particular state depicting its cultural will be showcased in another State. The Festival is a part of Patriotic Film Festival which is being organized in various districts. Bihar state is paired with Mizoram and Tripura.

A total of 5 feature films on patriotism and 2 Mizo Feature Films were screened at Mahendra Talkies, Banka during the three day event. The Festival was inaugurated by Dr. Nilesh Deore, IAS, District Magistrate, Banka in the presence of Mr. Niraj Kumar, Cinema Magistrate, Banka, Mr. Rajiv Ranjan (IPS), SP, Banka, Shri Ganga Kumar (IAS), Scretary Grameen Sneh Foundation, MD, State Food Corporation, Shri Raviraj Patel, Festival Convener and other dignitaries. Festival opened with Hindi film ‘Chota Sipahi’, other films screened during the festival are ‘Gandhi’, ‘Shaheed’, ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose- the forgotten Hero’, ‘I am Kalam’ Mizo films Khawnglung Run and Kima’s Lode (Beyond the Class).

The screenings were non-ticketed and were open to all on first cum served basis.

Directorate of film Festivals organised a patriotic film festival under the banner 70 Saal Azadi -Yaad Karo Kurbani from March 16-18, 2017 in Mau, Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with the district administration, Mau and Asha Foundation.

The festival also showcased two Khasi (Meghalaya) and one Wancho (Arunachali) films under the scheme “Ek Bharat Shresthat Bharat” . An initiative of Government of India to promote cultural exchange between the states, where in films from one particular state depicting its cultural will be showcased in another State. Chhattisgarh state is paired with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh under the scheme.

A total of 5 feature films on patriotism, 2 Khasi (Meghalaya) and one Wancho (Arunachali) Films were screened at S R Plaza, Mau during the three day event. Festival opened with Hindi film Subhas Chandra Bose.

The festival was a huge success and well attended by the audience and school students.

Patriotic Film Festival conducted from 14.03.2017 to 16.03.2017 at two venues. It was Inaugurated by the District Collector, Thanjavur at Saraswathi Mahal Library Auditorium on 14.03.2017 at 9 am. Various school children and Public witnessed the Film Festival. It was a grand success and few photos were enclosed here.

Directorate of film Festivals organised a patriotic film festival under the banner 70 Saal Azadi -Yaad Karo Kurbani from March 10-12, 2017 in Surajpur, Chhattisgarh in collaboration with the district administration, Surajpur and Madari Arts.

The festival also showcased two Gujrati films under the scheme “Ek Bharat Shresthat Bharat” . An initiative of Government of India to promote cultural exchange between the states, where in films from one particular state depicting its cultural will be showcased in another State. Chhattisgarh state is paired with Gujrat under the scheme.

A total of 6 feature films on patriotism and 2 Gujrati Films were screened at Agroha Bhawan, Surajpur during the three day event. Festival opened with Hindi film Subhas Chandra Bose.

The festival was first ever film festival organised in Surajpur, Chhattisgarh.

Directorate of film Festivals organised a patriotic film festival under the banner 70 Saal Azadi -Yaad Karo Kurbani from February 20-22, 2017 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with the district administration, Indore. The festival also showcased two Manipuri and one Nagamese films under the scheme “Ek Bharat Shresthat Bharat” . An initiative of Government of India to promote cultural exchange between the states, where in films from one particular state depicting its cultural will be showcased in another State. The Festival is a part of Patriotic Film Festival which is being organized in various districts. Madhya Pradesh state is paired with Manipur and Nagaland.

A total of 5 feature films on patriotism, two Manipuri and one Nagamese Feature films were screened at Ravindra Natya Grah during the three day event. The Festival was inaugurated by Smt.Usha Thakur, MLA Indore, in the presence of, Shri P Narhari, DM, Indore, Smt. Kirti Khurasia, C.E.O. Jila Panchayat Indore and other dignitaries. the festival had an enthusiast response from the public and school children.

Patriotic film festival was organized in Coimbatore from 10^th – 12^th February, 2017. A total number of 10 patriotic films of different languages were screened. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Thirumathi S. Madhuranthagi, Revenue Divisional Officer, Coimbatore. Veerapandiyan Kattabomman was screened as the inauguration film of the festival. I am Kalam, Iqbal, Lagaan, Lokmanya Tilak, Chak De India, Border, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Sardar were the other Patriotic films screened during the festival.

Directorate of film Festivals organised a patriotic film festival under the banner 70 Saal Azadi -Yaad Karo Kurbani from February 7-9, 2017 in Rohtas (Sasaram), Bihar in collaboration with the district administration, Rohtas and Grameen Sneh Foundation. The festival also showcased 2 Mizo (Mizoram) films under the scheme “Ek Bharat Shresthat Bharat” . An initiative of Government of India to promote cultural exchange between the states, where in films from one particular state depicting its cultural will be showcased in another State. The Festival is a part of Patriotic Film Festival which is being organized in various districts.

Bihar state is paired with Mizoram and Tripura.

The Festival was inaugurated by Shri Hashim Khan, DDC, Rohtas in the presence of President, District Council Shri Nathuni Paswan, Shri Vinit Kumar, eminent actor, Shri Ganga Kumar (IAS), Scretary Grameen Sneh Foundation, MD, State Food Corporation and other dignitaries. Festival opened with Hindi film Chota Sipahi, other films screened during the festival are ‘Gandhi’, ‘Shaheed’, ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose- the forgotten Hero’, ‘I am Kalam’ Mizo films Khawnglung Run and Kima’s Lode (Beyond the Class).

A package of patriotic films, under the banner “70 Saal Azadi Yaad Karo Kurbani” was organized jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and Government of Gujarat in Bhuj from 6^th – 8^th January, 2017.

The festival showcased the critically acclaimed films - Gandhi, Lokmanya, Lagaan, Iqbal, I Am Kalaam & Mary Kom . Apart from the general public, the festival also had an enthusiast response from the school children.

5th edition of Kolhapur International Film Festival was organized from December 22-29, 2016 by “Kalamaharshi Baburao Painter Film Society” alongwith “Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal” and in association with “Directorate of Film Festivals, Films Division, National Film Archive of India, all the bodies of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting of Govt. of India.” The event is supported by “Ministry of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Maharashtra.”

This year the center point of the festival was “Celebration of 70th Year of Indian Independence” 6 Patriotic feature films and 6 documentary films were showcased under the section “70 Saal Azadi – Yaad Karo Kurbani.” The festival aslo showcased 3 Odia films as part “Ek Bharat – Shreshtha Bharat” scheme. Exhibition of film posters on the subject was arranged in association with NFAI, Pune. This exhibition was inaugurated by the veteran Freedom Fighter Prof. V. D. Mane.

‘Gandhi’, ‘Veer Savarkar’, ‘Shaheed Udhamsingh’, ‘Chhota Sipahi’, ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’, ‘Bose the forgotten Hero’, and Documentaries on ‘Bhagat Singh’, ‘Lokmanya Tilak’, ‘Shaheed Udhamsingh’, ‘Sarojini Naidu’, ‘Begam Hazarat Mahal’, ‘Spirit of Nationalism’ and ‘Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi’ were screened during the festival.

It was a rare chance for the audience to see such patriotic films together and a large section of delegates watched and appreciated the films. Many members of younger generation appreciated the packages both “Azadi 70 saal - yaad karo kurbani” and “Ek Bharat – Shreshtha Bharat” which includes three films from Odisa.

Delegates and Guests lingering around the festival venue during the week went back to their homes with hearts full with joy and satisfaction and minds full of patriotic thoughts.

Directorate of film Festivals organised a patriotic film festival 70 Saal Azadi Yaad Karo Kurbani on the commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, in Wardha in collaboration with Govt. of Maharashtra.

A total of 6 Non-Feature Films and 9 Feature Films were screened at Sevagram, Wardha during the three day event from 30th September, 2016 to 2nd October, 2016. The Festival was inaugurated by Shri Ram Das Tadas, Member of Parliament, Wardha in the presence of Collector of Wardha followed by the screening of the film “Spirit of Nationalism” (directed by Y.N Engineer) and “Gandhi” (directed by Sir Richard Attenborough). The other Non-Feature films screened were Bhagat Singh, Sarojini Naidu, Lokmanya Tilak, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Shaheed Udham Singh and Other Feature films were Chota Sipahi, Veer Savarkar, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose – the forgotten hero, Sardar, I am Kalam, Chittagong, Shaheed, Lagaan. The screenings were non-ticketed and were open to all on first cum served basis.

The closing ceremony was organised on 2nd October, 2016 at Sevagram Ashram graced by Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of Finance, Planning and Forest, Govt. of Maharashtra, Shri Shaileshje Nawal, IAS, Collector, Wardha, Smt Nayna Gunde, CEO, Wardha and Shri Girishwarje Mishra, Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha.

A three day film festival of patriotic films, titled, 70 Saal Azadi Yaad Karo Kurbani, was being organized jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, at Jorhat from September 30, 2016. Coordinated by the Mrinal Kanti Das Foundation, Guwahati, the three day film festival was held at the Jorhat District Library. The festival celebrates 70 years of India’s Independence, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. The inaugural function of the film festival was held from 30th September, 2016 followed by screening of Noted Assamese filmmaker Jahnu Barua’s Kuhkhal. The festival opened with the lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest, Freedom Fighter Shri

The film festival package included National Award winning films by acclaimed Indian filmmakers, and an internationally decorated film. The other films included Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar by Dr. Jabbar Patel, Sardar by Ketan Mehta, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero by Shyam Benegal, Shaheed by S Ram Sharma, internationally acclaimed Gandhi by Richard Attenborough, and Indian classic Do Aakhen Barah Haath.
